I uploaded an updated version of what I've written so far. Sorry about the pop-ups and banners but it's free webspace so I have to abide by their rules for it. Hopefully it shouldn't be too annoying. I do deliberately put in buffers at the top and bottom so readers don't have to stare at the banners while trying to read the narrative.
There's a link to part two at the bottom so if you want to jump right to that it should be easy to find. There's also another part, which has the beginning of a later chapter but if you want it you'll have to work to find it because it's not linked directly. That was where I started on November 1st and I uploaded it 1.) to make a backup and 2.) to make sure that I have an accurate word count on tripod.
So what did I think of NaNo? I thought it was pretty fun actually. My Livejournal definitely helped keep me motivated and on track. I told myself I HAD to update every day or space monkeys would eat my brain (ok I kid, but that's close enough). It was also exhausting at times. There were days, especially in the last week, where I didn't think I'd make my 50k goal.
I found that over the course of writing I kept wanting to insert new scenes into my plot. The plot point list was just a barebones collection anway so it ended up not getting too messed up. Last night I went over it again to mark off everything that was covered, swap a few points around (because I had already moved them in writing - OOPS!) and insert the things I made up on the fly. There is still a hell of a lot to go. By my list I'm on point 17. By what I've posted you'll only see up to 16 because 17 is still in progress. The list goes up to 52. I haven't even started drawing up a list for the sequel - which I know I'm going to write because I've already planned out the last scene to end on a hook for it.
All that work and I'm still not at my Resident Evil/Shadowgate/Uninvited pardoy/lampoon/serious section. I honestly don't know how much of a parody it will be after what I've written so far. Most of the jokes are in the chapter headers. Everything else even remotely funny comes from the duo commenting about how stupid something is. So why does that bug me?
Well it's the main section I was planning for in October. I spent days on end drawing up maps and working out the sequence of events. I'm really looking forward to writing it. I could have written it first but I didn't want to end up having to do major editing to fill in plot holes brought about by writing the earlier sections last. That's the reason I didn't go back to writing my late-novel chapter.
I'll do what I can to get it done by next October.
