Here's what happened of note over the weekend in Street Fighter:

Man what a crazy weekend - both in and out of game.  In game we started on a Saturday that saw the player characters and attached NPCs slowly filtering into the hospital to check on Isaiah who's been hospitalized twice in three days.  The first time he was shot three times and recovered quickly due to a visit from a Kenpei student with a little Chi Kung magic.  The second time he was simply beaten into the negatives.  Our hospital trip concluded with poor Morty and Isaiah being dragged out of the hospital by Tokyo police and sent straight to prison.

That was the work of the Triads who were mightily annoyed with the pair.  I followed the cops while others contacted the American and British embassies so I got to watch the spectacular fight Morty and Isaiah were put through in the prison courtyard from a nearby rooftop.  They were told, in no uncertain terms, that the Triads expected them to fight their Shadoloo rivals to the death.  It started off only two-on-two against a Shadoloo pair a bit stronger than them but after they fell the big boss wanted to fight.

That fight was two-on-one but the Shadoloo master had four bodyguards he was life-linked to and could transfer damage to at will.  It wasn't a good sign when he opened with a Psycho Crusher that hit Isaiah square in the face.  Isaiah tried to knock him out of it with a roundhouse - he just failed, horribly.  They did manage to win but just barely and with a bit of GM aid.

Our campaign includes house rules about the Hado (i.e. The Force, The Lifestream, etc.).  A fighter who hasn't yet learned to harness the Hado cannot use any flashy special moves but in a fight where their life is threatened and they are at five health or less each turn they make a focus roll.  Successes accumulate over the battle and at five total the fighter momentarily taps into the raw essence of the Hado and can use one special move that costs no Chi or Will, ignores the defender's stamina for damage, and the energy from the Hado provides some protection from Chi-based attacks for that turn.  At the end of the round all these effects vanish and the fighter takes damage based on another focus roll.  Once you've successfully connected with the Hado ten times you can no longer chi rage but can buy special moves with experience.

It was fun watching one Hado burn after another because the duo were sitting at extremely low health for so long and the damage from the Hado can't knock you unconscious.  It was even funnier watching the Shadoloo master writhing helplessly for a good six turns or so in Isaiah's Knee Basher unable to break the sustained hold.  It doesn't matter how badass you are if you're put into a hold and can't get out you're still going to get thrashed.

So beating that guy earned the Triad's respect.  Isaiah went on to become a mercenary for them and the two were released from prison that very night.  After talking with a Triad lieutenant and being promised any one thing in the casino they wished to take with them Isaiah came upon the women being beaten to serve as prostitutes and personal slaves.  Being the kindhearted person that he is he chose to free one of them whose strong chi attracted his attention.

She turned out to be a Russian priestess with strong focus powers including but not limited to telepathy, mind reading, and healing.  Her order was not happy she was kidnapped either for the next day a huge Russian tracked her down to take her back to the temple.  Fearing that all of her abilities would be stripped due to her being tainted, Lynessa was readying herself to leave when Isaiah decided he wasn't going to stand for that.  The Russian guardian had explicit orders to kill anyone he suspected of harming Lynessa or being involved in her disappearance.  It came down to a horrible (as in, nobody wanted to carry through with it) decision to kill him or he would kill everyone there in the execution of his duty.

This guy easily took out Isaiah and two other fighters before Jolienne stepped up to battle him.  It didn't last long.  He punched her once then the Triad sharpshooter assigned to protect her shot him in the head - multiple times.  Being afraid that with his myriad of powers he might resurrect himself (Lynessa said that no guardian of her order had ever been killed in battle) the body was subsequently burned, crushed in a car compactor, and buried under a pile of junk in Jolienne's private junk yard.

I'm starting to like that Triad sharpshooter.  His name is Zinko.  The great Zinko rides again! (inside joke there =P)
