Well I'm on the last battle of my dragon Battle Realms run. It's been fun and plenty of aggravation so far.

The first battle for Serpentholm was pretty easy with the wolf and lotus at each other's throat. The second battle for Serpentholm was a long one. The serpent and lotus work together in that fight and warding off their combined assaults meant having to continually replenish my defenders.

Thankfully the serpent won't rebuild any lost structures. A combination of Zen Arrows and Indirect Fire from the top of the mesa (after clearing out the defending towers) was perfect for the defending cannon tower at their main base. The main reason the battle took so long was because the serpent was relying on sword rushes. Send a dozen or so swordmen rushing in with mugging battle gear, kill all the healers, and strip as many battle gears as possible. It was getting very annoying having to return to base every fight. With indirect fire I was just barely in range when they gathered around their well to fire and aggro the whole lot of swordsmen. They'd rush to counterattack and be strung out with no stamina left by the time they reached my position.

Once the serpent camp was taken out of the equation the lotus stood no chance. They build their base at the foot of a cliff. Big mistake. Against the dragon clan's range capabilities those defenses stand no chance. The only really aggravation there was that the lotus can recruit monks. This I don't understand. Monks are associated with yang clans and the lotus are yin. There is exactly zero explanation on why the monks are helping them when just a short while later the two are fighting.

This brings me to my battle to save the monk monastery. It can be a backbreaker if you don't know what you're doing. It's not a big map and it's just you, the lotus, and the monastery with it's endless monk supply. The problem is that there is a constant stream of ninja and the lotus focus exclusively on that monastery. They can train master warlocks which have oodles of health and their magic does quite a chunk of damage to buildings.

The trick I've found is to send 1 archer, 1 peasant, Kenji, and a geisha to guard him. As soon as possible build a watchtower next to the monastery. There's just enough room to squeeze one in. Leave the peasant there to repair the monastery. Put the archer in the tower and have Kenji guard the tower or stand his ground. If a big wave of Lotus come have Kenji use his battle gear liberally and the watchtower charge to keep enemies off of the geisha. There should be enough monks around to keep you from getting overwhelmed. They'll make short work of the ninja.

So I finished the lotus off and recruited the monks to my cause. Yay! They'll be handy in the last battle.

The next stage was another one that took a long time. Once adequate defenses were up and running I could focus on demolishing the lotus forts one by one. This stage loves to pair towers but that's no match against a fixed position with zen arrows and indirect fire. Trust me when I say trying to rush them with melee is suicide. You'll be blown sky high from all the lightning blasts and you'll have to fight off the troops who show up to defend the towers. Better to set up a formation just beyond their range, have the PK cannoners ID them to rubble and pincushion any troops who foolishly decide to attack you.

So after a few hours of slowly grinding up the lotus I moved on to the last stage. I probably would have finished last night but the game started bugging out (after playing for so long the sound cuts out and starts looping and doing weird things like constantly splashing sounds even when no one is walking through water) and I was tired. My base is up and running and I've partially wiped out the first lotus encampment. I already know where Zymeth is waiting so I'm curious to know if I can pull him out of his base with Arah and drag him halfway across the map before killing him. If I can it will save me some headache.
