My novel is still listed as comedy on NaNo.  I did intend to write something farsical with plenty of nonsense and jokes but so far my work has been very serious.  That's just the kind of writer I am most of the time.  I sit down to create new characters and I inevitably end up developing the realistic aspects of their lives right alongside any comedy relief.

Jokes do not come easily unless it's three a.m. and I'm dead tired.  Then everything is funny.

So I have this dilemma in that my work is listed under comedy but it's not particularly amusing.  I have to ask myself it it isn't time to move it to another category.  About the only thing it would fit under would be 'Other' because I don't want to confine myself to horror or adventure.  I suppose general fantasy would work but I always associate that with the fantastic world.  Yes, there is a fantastic side to the world but after almost 35,000 worlds the main characters are just now beginning to realize it's there.

It takes a talking rodent to explain this to them.  Cazic knows how many pages will get filled up with just him talking.

Right now, however, the novel will remain in comedy.  The reason for that is simply because comedy means I can write whatever the heck I feel like writing without worrying too much about it being out of genre.  The characters can crack (lame) jokes and take everything else with deadpan seriousness.

Maybe if the whole thing is lame enough it will be funny.
