Today the validator to win for the year went live and as planned I was ready with 53k words written. It was quite satisfying to get the purple WINNER! bar. I'm still adding words as the novel isn't even remotely done but at least nothing can come up and derail the push to 50k.
Naturally, of course, this is precisely when meat space obligations mean I'll be spending a lot of time away from home. I guessed that might happen though and that's why I pushed hard early on.
